Mama Loa in Washington DC

Greetings from the Land of Aloha Lisa!

Just saw your blog and learned of Mama Loa's passing from your writings. I didn't know very much about Mama, though I met her and took this photo of her and one of her daughters at the traveling Vietnam Wall Memorial at the State Capital many years ago. I was also privileged to visit her home and family in Laie, but I really didn't know much of her professional side, but I sure could feel her mana! Love exuded with radiant joy from her.

This first photo also show Dr. Rex Wiegel on crutches, whom I also met that same day. Before I met either of them "officially", I took these two photos. The second one shows Mama Loa offering Rex a flower lei ~ and in the background there is a little boy running! Dr. Rex lost his leg nineteen days before leaving Vietnam. Rex and I visited Mama Loa's house together, must've been in the late 80's / early 90's. Don't remember exactly when. When I took this first picture, I was so surprised to learn that she was a mother of 7! (I just read her obituary and it said 10 children ~ guess I was just short by 3) And her daughter was so lovely as well!

At any rate, looks like Mama Loa brought us together tonight so I just wanted to share these beauty full images of her and her Infinite Presence.  I just returned to the islands in January of '09 after a nearly 10 year absence. Originally moved here in January of '84.

I felt so blessed to know her, even as briefly yet totally merged in spirit. I would love to know more of her and look forward to hearing from you someday in the future. I have a very busy schedule through next Wednesday the 15th, but after that would love to speak on the phone or e-mail anytime before is fine. Please let me know you got these pics and let's be in touch. Do you know her family? Would love to get these pics to them.

With the Spirit and Mana of Mama Loa,
With warm Aloha,
Gail Gail Ellingsong

  1. Dear Gail,
Thank you so much for writing to me and sending me those wonderful pictures and telling me your amazing stories. There are always amazing stories surrounding Mama Loa, she was an extraordinary woman. She touched my life and many others.

I started this tribute blog to her, when I found out she had died and there was not much about her on the internet, and certainly no central place that gathered her story and put it together, so I created it. I have received the most amazing emails, stories, photos and pictures of paintings of her. Yes, she was very well known and loved.

I will forward the photos to her granddaughter, who will very much appreciate them.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me, send me photos and think of Mama Loa.

    All the best,
    Lisa

shelter. That one yes that one to whom cause the sun to stand still hid them, yes that one how mighty he is.

    2. I have tried to restore my letter. Perhaps I mistakenly removed them. I don't know what happen to them.
Aloha, lets try and continue on a new page. There is so many subjects we can choose to speak of, and I choose to speak of importance, why because of the subject and for our Ohana's. I too have a previledge, my mama and my Papa thought to love the people of Hawaiian, because we live in Hawaii and because my mama taught us ("Aloha") in every sense of the word. Her mama taught her and her Papa taught her and in return she gave us our Kuliana,ho'oili our makua okalani. To Pule, to Paona heu,kui Puuwai. To cultivate, and bring up the water the spiritual waters as Ka-ne thought. That is the subject Ka-ne. This one is the one to whom the Native Hawaiians ka'hi ki'eki'e iluna.
When this Ka-ne died he became known as ("Lono") he now went into the uha ne ao.
      Why did Lono go there?
To speak to his spirit begotton brothers to whom was sentence to a place called po. Like in Koolau "po" ko. A place of darkness a place to where our kupuna's gathered to call out to Pule and search for "kE EA O MAKUA O KALANI and while they were there they maka a great one passing through and knew he was greater then all the others because they could not utter. That one, the one called "LONO went there to testify before he returned to his Papa in our ancient tongue "HA-WAH" the "Ancient" of the ancients. When Lono returned to Papa he now became known as "KANA LOA" kupa'a,hoa, hoaloha, he proved to be the Loyal one, Papa of Ka-ne aka Lono aka Kana- Loa and that same one is known to the Aboriginal Native Hawaiians as
"KU" WARRIOR MOI ALI'I. So then as we begin to unvail the sacret secrets of these teachings let us continue to teach, remind, recall and kui ai our Puuwai and
allow HA-WAH to rejoice, with all of his Lani pu'alii. This one is hoo manau Nui yet to come we await him and he arrives may we be found in maluhi'a ku'ika'hi
      Malama pono
      Mahalo Nui Loa.

    3. Mahalo, Here we are, with most important information so we may be found in peace. We are very much at the same place, at the same time. And where is this place. This
is called the conclusion, this conclusion is the time of the end, the end of a system. This system to which mankind is under is coming to it's end. How, why and when? Well according to written documentation that has been entrusted as the "will" of "HA-WAH" in the time of "pio" as in ka-pio-lani. The people born under the "old covenant". These historical records are vital so we may relate, recall, and/ or remind one another what was written and how it relates to our day. For example if someone left you a lot of money in a will, yet you could not truely understand the terms or terminology. Would you not take it to a attorney so he could help you to understand much clearer. So is this towards words written for our benefit for our Inheritance towards life. HA-WAH gave instructions towards those to whom looks to his guidance, how, by means of his words. So then it is vital to build on all of his sayings from when he first spoke until now about the conclusion until the very end of this government(s)to whom are in trust and accountability to the Universal Sovereign. All of the covanants belongs to him. We as people of Hawaii Nei are priviledge to speak to our neighbor's with aloha our breath of life. We may use it to the best of our ability both to ourselves and then to others. What then is the most importance, yes that we must set all things in order so we maybe found in peace on the day of examination, arrival. The son of man, was not just a common man, he was also known as the Ula (la-a) Umi ALI'I Nui of HA-WAH. Our sacret secrets must be pronounced in an urgent way the time is in the "essence". "UA MAU KAU KAU"!

  4. In our ancient tongue "Kealoha Nui Loa", what does this saying mean?
Well we know we learn in the Hawaiian beginnings of words at times we use "e" as an "a". What is "ke" and is this another way of saying "in" the beginning? Interesting, why because if ke is in the beginning and aloha with ke- aloha is one word, this would say in the beginning "love" or in the begining there is or was love. With the next word "Nui" which is the larger picture or "universal understanding" and could also conclude "accurate" understanding of the word(s) before or after Nui such as Loa, to where at one time according to the Hawaiian meant "Everlasting". So then Kealoha Nui Loa would of meant Everlasting Love. Yet We have learned that Loa means point and/ or long time. Not "Everlasting" as we use to say. Let's think of this for a moment. If Everlasting is the focused word what is Everlasting? The earth is,according to Ha-wah's saying. He said the earth was made for time indiffinit and it was made to be inhibited. And it was given to the sons of men,and daughters "mankind". We the people of the earth know this place as home. We really truely only have known earth as home, we have been born of earth and when we die by fact we return to earth, dust. Some teach we go into the spirit world, someday we go to where The God Almighty,Eternal Father,Heavenly Father Dwells. In our Hawaiian understanding of "Ha-wah" in our Aboriginal tongue the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth to whom allowed our Four father(s), first humans of this land called "Hawaii" the aboriginals, known today as the Indigenous People or Indigenous Hawaiians before any peoples to step foot, first humans to arrive, spoke the words "Kealohanuiloa" in the beginning there was love or is love for a long time. This is something of great understanding. Every person thereafter arrives with the first word of "Aloha" in a their breath. Now we must remember the reason of Nui and Loa. Most importance to the point, with being thankful, Mahalo. Let us use another point of view of Loa. Ua Mau Kau Kau.

  5. Repeat our Ua Mau, these understandings of what was mentioned about Everlasting was taken away with clear understanding. And the taught of going to another dwelling place other then earth is a fact but it is not any other according to the teaching of Ka-ne Umi (Ula) Ali'i Loa. Ka-ne said, Only the "Kahinu" could enter such a dwelling place, and this place is of the "Everlasting" dwelling place. This place is in the "Heavens", ("Lani") this invitation is "exclusive" for the "Kahinu Class". So then if this is fact where are the documents and who represents this point (Loa) view. See the original Native Hawaiian writings (documents) articals...then revise and translate into better understandings of the language and there "true" meanings. Aloha is forget yet as we learned it is not exclusive, KA-NE ALI'I LOA before 33c.e. spoke this words this means "Everlasting Life" their taking in "knowledge" of the only true God, the one to whom sent aka Jesus-Christ. So then Everlasting Life is restored, how by taking in knowledge of the "only" true "God". Who other then his son not just a common man a man to whom was sent, the history is stored in the book the holy Scriptures, we spoke these words in the Landing, arriving to where our fathers foretold of that great one to whom would come and he would take for himself a people set apart for his name sake to which he cometh from and returned. The people to whom enter after England, France, America can they claim from beginning to end this word Kealohanuiloa from the one to whom they claim sent them? What does the "Tale" show in evidence. Hawaiian say "Huna" the meeting of the mind. Is this how we will take our place for the unveiling of the peoples called Hawaiians of the originals?.

  7. Is this blog spot still active? If so, please let me know. In 1995 I accidentally had a wonderful personal experience with Mama Loa (she told me her birth name was Leilani, that Mama Loa was her performing name) while riding a bus sitting beside her from Mililani to Pearl Harbor. It was magical and she actually told me about a future event I would experience which actually ended up coming true! Please let me know and I will provide the details. - Bill Frohliger
